Samsung has put its new Bio-Processor chip into mass production that builds support in for measuring five attributes: body fat, skeletal muscle mass, heart rate, skeletal muscle mass, heart rate, skin temperature, and stress level (how sweaty you are).
Fitness devices using this are planned to start shipping in the first half of 2016.
The company is offering reference designs to other companies interested in making wearables, specifically saying the chip is designed for “accelerated development” of new fitness and health products.
According to Samsung, devices that incorporate the Bio-Processor can take a number of different forms, like wristbands and patches.
