GitHub launches U2F security key support
At its first GitHub Universe user conference, the San Francisco, CA-based company announced that it’s launching support for FIDO Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) security keys from companies like Yubico and others. These physical USB keys automatically generate a second-factor code for you when you plug them in, so you’re no longer have to enter a six-digit code from Google Authenticator, Authy, and similar apps.
GitHub already supports two-factor authentication through these aforementioned apps and SMS. According to company VP of security Shawn Davenport, about 300,000 of GitHub’s 11 million users use two-factor authentication currently. The company has partnered with Yubico, allowing the first 5,000 buyers to purchase keys for $5 and is offering a 20% discount for those that miss the cutoff.

iPhone 6s is Apple’s most water-resistant phone to date
Despite the fact that Apple didn’t publicize it at all, the iPhone 6s significantly has a focus on water resistance.
Apple decided to make the logic board waterproof by placing a spongy black material around the circuitry. This hopefully will protect the logic board from being fried when coming into contact with water.
However, this doesn’t make the iPhone 6s waterproof, so you should still be careful with your new smartphone around liquids, but it does give it a fighting chance if it takes an accidental dip.
Cortana not coming to Xbox One until next year
Microsoft, with the help of Xbox Preview members, is currently testing a new Windows 10-powered dashboard for the Xbox One. While the update includes a host of new features, Cortana integration is one of the big one. However, Cortana’s not coming with the Xbox One update in November.
“Our plan is to add Cortana to the Xbox One experience preview later this year. From there, we’ll ensure that the experience is tuned for gamers before we officially launch Cortana in 2016.”
