The LG G Flex 2 brings its pioneering curved frame, which houses a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080, 403ppi) Plastic-OLED display along with an 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Juno Cho, LG Mobile Communications division president and CEO:

“The G Flex 2 shows the world that there’s still room for design innovation in today’s smartphones beyond just metal frames and larger displays. We think the G Flex 2 is the perfect example of form and function coming together beautifully. It’s a smartphone that people simply won’t be able to take their eyes off of.”

Its “self healing” back cover can heal everyday scratches in “just 10 seconds,” according to the company, with the G Flex 2’s Fast Charge feature charging its 3000mAh battery to “almost 50 percent in a little over half an hour.”

For a better user experience, the G Flex 2 offers an upgraded Gesture Shot to take selfies with a hand gesture. The camera can now recognize a hand from 1.5 meters (4.92 feet) away. Glance View displays key information such as the time, recent messages or missed calls with a swipe down.

Also shown off at the show were a new line of mid-range handsets: the Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy.

Cho:

“LG’s new mid-range collection continues our legacy of offering amazing smartphones at reasonable prices. For millions of consumers around the world, the deciding factor on which smartphone to buy isn’t how fast or how big it is but how balanced it is. With our new mid-range smartphones, more and more customers will be looking to LG for their next handsets.”

The Magna and Spirit feature a subtle 3000mm radius curve to fit “more comfortably” in the hand, according to the company.

All four devices are available in both LTE and 3G versions, sharing nearly identical designs with metal-looking back covers distinguishing the LTE models from the 3G models’ patterned plastic back covers.

This mid-range lineup carries over UX features like Gesture Shot, which uses a hand gesture to start a three-second countdown and Glance View.

The LG Watch Urbane and Watch Urbane LTE were also on display at MWC.

The Watch Urbane LTE centers around a 1.3-inch (320×320, 245ppi) Plastic-OLED Display and LG Wearable Platform operating system.

Cho:

“The LG Watch Urbane LTE is an example of the kind of innovation that’s possible when you’re the industry leader in LTE technology. This smartwatch breaks new ground with the world’s first LTE connectivity and the real-watch styling of a high-end modern classic watch. It embodies our philosophy, innovation for a better life.”

It can make and answer calls as well as send and receive text messages. With carrier support, the smartwatch offers push-to-talk capability with other devices on the same network, allowing for use as a walkie-talkie with unlimited range.

The Wearable Platform operating system carries most of the G Watch R’s features, including always-on ambient mode functionality.

Three physical buttons on the Watch Urbane LTE’s right side allow for easy access to a number of functions without having to swipe through multiple menu screens. The top button accesses the Quick Settings menu where the user can check and adjust battery life, brightness, volume and connection settings. The center button switches between one of the smartwatch’s “several thousand”  watchfaces and a list of installed apps, with the bottom button acting as a “Back” function or a safety beacon when long-pressed to automatically dial any present phone number as sending the wearable’s location.

NFC technology allows for smartwatch wearers to have a virtual wallet on them at all times, allowing users to make payments for meals, movie tickets and transit fares without taking out their wallets.

The Watch Urbane LTE features a built-in heart rate monitor and advanced motion sensors to make tracking fitness goals easier than with a smartphone. In addition to the standard fitness coach, the smartwatch also includes specialized features for golfers, cyclists and hikers. IP67 dust and waterproofing certification allows watch submersion in a meter (3.3 feet) of water for 30 minutes, making it safe for showers and exposure to sweat.

Here is the spec sheet:

    • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor
    • Memory: 4GB internal, 1GB RAM
    • Sensors: 9 Axis, Barometer, heart-rate, GPS
    • Connectivity: 802.11 b,g,n WiFI, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC
