SAN FRANCISCO — Lyft’s new Line program aims to connect the “90% of rides that have someone else taking the same trip within five minutes.”
Line aims to share rides along shared routes, priced for daily use. Set your destination, and Lyft will connect you with a ride already going the same way for “up to 60% less than an original Lyft ride.”
Lyft Line is being called by the company “a transit system with infinite routes” that “becomes stronger, more affordable, and more efficient the more it’s used.”
To celebrate the service’s launch, your first Line ride is free.
The service will roll out first in the company’s hometown of San Francisco on iOS, then on Android and in other cities.
