In a weird move that went from shocking to dull in about two seconds, Frank Lampard’s loan move to Manchester City from New York City FC has been confirmed today.
The 36-year-old will join the reigning Premier League champions on a six-month loan deal wearing no. 18.
Lampard, widely regarded as one of Chelsea’s greatest players, made 648 appearances for the club since 2001, and holds the West London club’s goalscoring record with 211; he is the only midfielder to have scored over 100 goals since the Premier League’s inception. He currently has over 100 caps for England, and has not announced his international retirement.
The move makes sense for Lampard, who will be able to keep himself fit while he waits for his parent club to make their 2015 MLS debut. Having his around will presumably enable
