Allonzo Trier has committed to the Arizona Wildcats, according to Scout’s Evan Daniels. Trier is Arizona’s third recruit for their 2015 class. The 6’4 guard from Findlay Prep is ESPN’s 19th-best player in 2015 and Rivals’ 12th best.
Trier joins combo guard Justin Simon and swingman Ray Smith as part of Arizona’s next recruiting class. The Wildcats’ three top-30 commitments (according to ESPN) puts them well ahead of the rest of the pack — only three other players in that club have even given their college commits thus far.
Arizona is expecting a top-five team this upcoming season but will have holes to fill in 2015 if there is an NBA exodus. Senior point guard T.J. McConnell will graduate after the 2014-15 season, and Stanley Johnson, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski would be headed for the NBA draft.
Trier impressed this summer by averaging 12.6 points per game and shooting 62 percent from the field with USA Basketball’s Under-18 squad that participated in the FIBA Americas tournament.
