Acer announced several new devices at Computex 2014. Let’s recap what they announced.
The Liquid X1 is a 5.7-inch smartphone that packs an octa-core processor, octa-core graphics processor and 2GB of RAM into a 160g form factor. To provide a seamless WiFi and LTE experience, the Liquid X1 supports 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi and LTE Category 4 Standard, with up to 150Mbps download speeds to keep users connected wherever they are.
The Acer Liquid X1 features a 2-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera and 13 megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and 0.3 second focus capability, allowing for the capture of clear and crisp photos of spontaneous moments. With Free Focus, users do not need to worry about focusing and can let the Liquid X1 do all the work, so they will never miss a shot. Also, with Bright Magic, users are no longer limited by dimly lit environments; with high-speed image processing, brilliant low-light photos are captured with high brightness allowing users to take photos wherever and whenever. With Motion Tracking, users can also capture moving objects without fear of blurring and snap Selfies easily with the wide-angle front camera.
The Acer Liquid X1 comes with a number of distinct features that make it easier to control and operate. Among them is Acer Zoom Fit, which adjusts the user interface to four inches when operating the device with one hand is required. In addition, it also comes built with the AcerRapid design on the back which allows users to quickly launch the camera, pick up phone calls or their favorite apps with the touch of a finger. With the AcerFloat user interface, app windows can stay open, so users can multitask without having to back out of one app to work in another. A press of the multi-tasking button brings up the Float Apps where opened apps on a translucent screen float over the function being used.
The Acer Liquid X1 is equipped with a microSD card slot for expanded storage. The Liquid X1 will be available starting in Q3 2014.
Iconia Tab 8
Outfitted with an 8-inch 1920×1200 Full HD display with IPS technology, the Acer Iconia Tab 8 makes games, videos and websites brilliant and vivid from wide viewing angles. The viewing experience is further enhanced with Zero Air Gap technology, reducing light reflection, bringing higher contrast and delivering brighter, crisper images, as well as better readability under sunlight. The Iconia Tab 8’s display also features an anti-fingerprint coating that reduces fingerprint smudges, making it much easier to clean and read, and a 16:10 aspect ratio ideal for watching videos. It is equipped with dual speakers for delivering a surround sound effect with clear and life-like sound.
All multimedia will run fast on the Acer Iconia Tab 8 thanks to its quad-core Intel Atom Z375 processor. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and features Acer Touch WakeApp which lets users quickly and easily wake up the Iconia Tab 8 with a simple touch gesture. The Iconia Tab 8 keeps users connected to WiFi networks with 802.11a/b/g/n wireless support and MIMO technology for fast WiFi performance. Users can enjoy up to 7.5 hours of battery life when viewing video.
The Acer Iconia Tab 8 will be available beginning in Q3 2014.
The Acer Liquid Z200 is designed for first-time feature phone users or phone buyers on a budget, available in five colors to accentuate users’ personalities. This 4-inch smartphone features a WVGA display with optional dual SIM support plus immersive sound by DTS Studio Sound technology previously available only in Acer’s flagship smartphones.
The Acer Liquid Z200 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is comfortable in the hand for one-handed usage and features an optional flip cover that lets users turn on their smartphone simply with a flip.
The AcerRapid design is the same design featured with the Liquid X1.
The Acer Liquid Z200 features Acer Quick Mode, four distinct profiles for the needs of different user and age groups:
- Basic Mode for youngsters with fixed call and text functions
- Easy Senior Mode for elderly users with quick messages, pre-set text, radio, weather, magnifer, clock and quick call contacts
- Classic Mode for first-time smartphone users with the main functions in a simple and organized layout
- Keypad Mode for feature phone switchers or people who primarily use voice and need their keypad right away
The Acer Liquid Z200 features DTS Studio Sound for the ultimate portable entertainment experience with enveloping stereo sound and clear vocals.
The Liquid Z200’s 2 MP camera also offers several intuitive modes for easy and fun photo shooting. Auto Smile Shot automatically takes pictures when a smile is detected. Continuous Shot takes up to 20 pictures in burst mode to ensure that critical moments are captured. Continuous Shot is also accessible through the aforementioned AcerRapid. Panorama Mode combines multiple shots into a seamless panorama by moving the camera horizontally or vertically while shooting and letting the camera stitch the shots together.
The Acer Liquid Z200 will be available in Q3 2014 in black, white, pink, blue and yellow.
Acer’s smallest touch device, the Liquid Leap features a 1-inch touch screen nestled in a rubber wristband for comfortable everyday usage.
The Liquid Leap tracks users’ steps, running distance, calories burned and sleep. It’s on 24/7 and features incoming call and SMS notifications so users will never miss an important conversation. The music control function lets users access the music library on their smartphone, and play, pause and switch to previous or next songs.
The Liquid Leap comes in white, black, aquamarine, pink and orange. With up to seven days of battery life, it features Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and is waterproof. The Acer Liquid Leap will be available in Q3 2014.
The Acer Liquid Jade features a 5-inch HD display coated in Gorilla Glass 3, a 13 MP rear camera with 0.3 second focus and f/1.8 aperture as well as Android 4.4 KitKat. The Liquid Jade is 7.5mm thin.
The Acer Liquid Jade will start shipping in Q3 2014.
With its 8 megapixel main camera with f/2.0 aperture and AcerRapid design, users can quickly capture great photos and 1080p video of those previous moments with the touch of a finger. Those photos and videos are vivid on the Liquid E600’s spacious 5-inch IPS screen. With Acer’s interactive Live Screen app, users can also invite friends in temporary group sharing of photos. The group administrator simply taps on a photo, and it will pop up on friends’ mobile device screens, enabling live interaction and sharing in real time.
The Liquid E600 also comes with a number of features to make multitasking easier, including Acer SnapNote, which allows users to capture stage presentations with automatic angle correction and PDF/PPT conversion making it easier than ever to take notes during a business meeting. In addition it comes with the AcerFloat user interface that allows several app windows to stay open so users can multitask without having to back out of one app to work in another. The press of a button brings up the AcerFloat apps shortcut; apps on a translucent screen float over the function being used. It is easy to access and switch apps such as the browser or camera anytime.
The Acer Liquid E600 will be available starting in Q3 2014.
Equipped with a 3500mAh battery, the Liquid E700 is equipped to provide up to 24 hours of talk time, 60 hours of standby time, 12 hours of video playback and 100 hours of music playback, allowing users to live their daily lives without interruption. Its streamlined curved form factor with a weight of 155g is designed to sit comfortably in your hands, minimizing potential discomfort that may arise from holding the device for long periods of time.
The E700 has triple SIM capabilities, which does away with the need for carrying around multiple phones, and quad-band connectivity, ideal for busy business travelers. It also comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, a quad-core processor, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card for expandable storage.
The Acer Liquid E700 will be available starting in Q3 2014.
