Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab S tablets

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S line Thursday, which is being dubbed as the company’s ‘thinnest and lightest tablet to date.’

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 features an Exynos 5 Octa-core processor (1.9Ghz Quad-core + 1.3Ghz Quad-core) or 2.3Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, Android 4.4 KitKat, 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front-facing camera, 3GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD to 128GB and a 4,900mAh battery.

Its bigger sibling, the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 features the same specs as the 8.4 just with a 7,900mAh battery.

The Galaxy Tab S features a WQXGA 2560×1600 Super AMOLED display that delivers more than 90% of Adobe RGB color coverage and an 100,000:1 contrast ratio for darker blacks and brighter whites, which creates “deeper and more realistic” images.

The Galaxy Tab S also features additional Samsung screen technologies that go beyond the spec sheet. Adaptive Display ensures the best visual experience “anywhere, anytime” by intelligently adjusting gamma, saturation, and sharpness based on the application being viewed, the color temperature of the viewing environment and ambient lighting. Pre-set professional modes — AMOLED Camera and AMOLED Photo — also let users manually adjust the display settings for bright, dynamic results for both video and photo content.

In addition, Galaxy Tab S can fully enjoy content clearly and easily outdoors, even in bright sunlight. The tablet’s advanced outdoor visibility technology makes on-screen content look bright, natural and easy to view.

Both models have a sleek 6.6mm profile and at only 465g (10.5-inch model) and 294g (8.4-inch model) that are light and easy to carry. With its longer-lasting battery, and Ultra-Power Saving Mode, the Galaxy Tab S lets consumers enjoy hours of entertainment without having to worry about finding the plug.

The Galaxy Tab S also comes with several custom accessories. Also available is a Bluetooth keyboard is a new ergonomically designed keyboard designed specially for the Galaxy Tab S which pairs with a clasp for added protection.

Users can make and receive calls directly from your phone to their Galaxy Tab S, anywhere, no matter where their phone is with the Call Forwarding feature via SideSync 3.0. With Quick Connect, Galaxy Tab S quickly finds and connects to nearby devices for easy content sharing.

Additional features include a Multi User Mode that enables multiple users to have their own customized profiles, safe and convenient with a built-in fingerprint scanner and a specially-designed Kids Mode with a custom interface and kid-friendly applications.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 & Galaxy Tab S 10.5 will be available in WiFi-only and Wifi+LTE variants in titanium and white this July. In the meantime, here are the spec sheets:
