ASUS announced a new line of products at Computex 2014. Let’s break down the back-to-school 2014 lineup.
Transformer Book V
Starting with the Transformer Book V as a laptop, it has a full QWERTY keyboard and touchpad and runs both Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4 KitKat. It has a dedicated hardware button to switch between the two operating systems and features next-generation Intel Core processors. The Transformer Book V features a 12.5-inch IPS display and 1TB of storage.
As a tablet, it works as a standalone Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4 KitKat tablet when the phone is docked. Switching between the two operating systems can be done with a tap on the screen. The Transformer Book V has access to the Google Play Store and Windows Store as well as up to 128GB of storage.
Lastly, as a phone, the Transformer Book V runs Android 4.4 KitKat and has a 5-inch display. The Transformer Book V is also powered by an Intel Atom quad-core processor, LTE support and 2500mAh battery.
Transformer Book T300 Chi
The Transformer Book T300 Chi has a 12.5-inch 2560×1440 WGHD IPS display and is a tablet/laptop convertible with a fanlesss design. The T300 Chi is powered by Intel’s next-generation, high-performance, low-power processor based on the Core micro-processor. When detached, the device is 7.3mm thin. The Transformer Book T300 Chi also features LTE support.
The Fonepad 8 features an 8-inch 1280×800 IPS display as well as built-in 3G connectivity and phone functionality. The device has a 5.06mm thin bezel which gives a 72.2% screen-to-body ratio. The Fonepad 8 also features a 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 processor and dual front-facing speakers.
Memo Pad 7
The Memo Pad 7 has a 7-inch display with up to an 1.88GHz Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core processor, as well as Miracast support to stream HD video to a compatible display. The tablet features aptX CSR Bluetooth technology to support the streaming of high-quality audio to headphones and other supported devices. The Memo Pad 7 also has a 5-megapixel rear camera as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
Memo Pad 8
The Memo Pad 8 features a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor and an 8-inch 1080p IPS display coated with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. In terms of radios, the ASUS Memo Pad 8 features 802.11ac WiFi as well as LTE. Dimensions-wise, the device is 299g and 7.45mm thick.
Starting with the UI, ZenUI features modern ‘flat’ icons, vivid color themes, animations and new ringtones and notification sounds.
The ASUS RT-AC3200 router is the “world’s fastest” tri-band 802.11ac WiFi router, according to ASUS . The RT-AC3200 delivers combined data speeds of up to 3200Mbit/s.
Broadcom’s six-stream 802.11ac MIMO technology provides the router’s users with the “best Internet experience in multi-user environments” by providing the maximum network speed. SmartConnect increases the WiFi performance by up to 200% by automatically selecting the ideal band for network clients based on the user’s location and needs.
AiRadar with universal beamforming strengthens wireless connectivity to improve the WiFi coverage on network devices. That ensures greater signal stability and enhances range and optimal speeds. ASUS’ ASUSWRT graphical user interface provides robust network control and optimization with 30-second setup as well as traffic management.
Adaptive Quality of Service (QoS) bandwidth management features IPv6 support, multiple wireless SSIDs, secure VPN access as well as AiProtection with Trend Micro. The AiProtection provides protection from external attacks and maintains personal privacy. Adaptive QoS also manages network traffic to give each device and application optimal bandwidth to give everyone on the network the best possible Internet experience.
ProArt PA328Q 4K Monitor
The ASUS ProArt PA328Q 4K monitor has a 32-inch 3840×2160 WLED display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 138ppi, which translates to over eight million pixels. The monitor displays 1.07 million colors and has an 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
In terms of ports, the ASUS PA328Q monitor has 1 DisplayPort, 1 Mini DisplayPort, 2 HDMI ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports.
The monitor features built-in Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture to let users view two sources simultaneously. Picture-in-Picture places the second input source in one corner of the display. Picture-by-Picture splits the screen down the middle.
The ASUS Zenbook NX500 has an aluminum unibody construction and is powered by up to an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M graphics. The laptop has 2GB of GDDR3 video memory and 802.11ac WiFi. The NX500 also has a 15.6-inch 3840×2160 4K display.
Portable AiO PT2001
