Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T:
“We are proud to add the innovative ASUS Padfone X to AT&T’s leading device portfolio. Padfone X provides tremendous value and flexibility to consumers. It combines a powerful smartphone with a 9-inch Padfone station that covers more than 99 percent of all Americans.”
Jerry Shen, ASUS CEO:
“AT&T and ASUS are passionate about providing incredible experiences, and we are very excited to offer the compelling combination of Padfone X on AT&T’s 4G LTE network. PadFone X offers the ability to instantly experience multiple displays via a premium smartphone and tablet.”
The Padfone X is a 5-inch 1080p Android 4.4 KitKat smartphone that docks into the included PadFone Station to transform into a 9-inch tablet-like experience. Powered by ASUS’ DynamicDisplay technology, when docked, apps running on the smartphone are resized to fit the PadFone Station’s larger display. PadFone X has dual front-facing speakers, which include ASUS SonicMaster technology to deliver an immersive audio experience.
The PadFone X has a 13-megapixel camera. By merging adjacent pixels, the camera’s LowLight mode increases light sensitivity and results in clear and bright low-light shots without the need for a flash. Turbo Burst Mode enables the camera to capture photos at up to 35 frames per second.
The PadFone X is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 16GB of on-board storage as well as a microSD slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards.
The PadFone Station includes a large battery that charges the phone when it is docked, providing up to two times longer battery life. It also offers Power Matters Alliance wireless charging.
Two optional accessories are available to enhance the PadFone X experience. The PadFone X Folio Bundle is a set of protective covers for the phone and PadFone Station that are designed to work together even when the phone is docked. Available in blue and white, the polyurethane covers protect PadFone X from dents and dings, and features a microfiber interior to keep the screen scratch free.
The PadFone X Mobile Dock is a custom-fit Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad that transforms PadFone X into a notebook. The Mobile Dock connects to PadFone X via Bluetooth 3.0 and includes a 450mAh battery for up to one month of use between charges.
