SANTIAGO — The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported an 8.2 magnitude earthquake off the northern Chilean coast Tuesday.
Houses after the quake, at least five people were reported dead, according to Chile’s interior minister.
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet issued a state of emergency for the cities of Arica, Parnicota and Tarapaca. As of 1AM ET Wednesday, all tsunami warnings had been lifted. A tsunami advisory is still in effect for Hawaii.
