St. Joseph’s wins 2014 Atlantic 10 basketball tournament 65-61

Saint Joseph’s defeated VCU to win the Atlantic 10 Tournament 65-61. The Hawks handled the Rams’ press, managing just 12 turnovers in the game.

Ronald Roberts Jr. led the way for St. Joseph’s, notching a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Roberts hit all six of his shots, powering the Hawks in the paint. Fellow forward Halil Kanacevic also finished with a double-double, tallying 11 points and 14 boards.

Rob Brandenburg had a team-high 18 points for VCU, including three three-pointers. Treveon Graham stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

With the automatic bid, St. Joseph’s will be playing UConn in the second round. VCU will be playing SF Austin in the 2nd round.
