Instagram for Android was updated to version 5.1 on Wednesday.
Since the app first launched in April 2012, the app has come to support hundreds of devices of all shapes and sizes. In taking time to polish their designs, the company has worked to make sure that Instagram feels native and at home on any Android device.
These changes mean a “faster, more responsive” app. The profile screen now loads “twice as fast,” and the overall app size was cut “in half” to increase speed throughout the app.
By making their design cleaner, Instagram for Android has been made “easier to use.” Visuals throughout the app have been simplified, making use of valuable screen real estate for small devices and feature phones and rearranging their design to keep buttons within easy reach for navigation on a larger device.
The app is available now in the Google Play store.
